Where to eat at DLSU Taft?
September 9, 2008
“Saan tayo kakain?” is a question I haven’t heard for days now. Since I’m taking a term break for life aka. graduating this term, I moved back to our house, and left the confines of my dorm
..forever. Back to the question “Saan tayo kakain?”. My friends and I tried different ways to solve this problem. Believe me. Living in Taft for 4 years, you will sooner or later run out of places to eat.
So here is a mini list, for people who are new in Taft, living in dorms/condos and too lazy to cook, or those who just want to try something other than McDo or Yellowcab (I don’t even eat there because it’s expensive for me :\)
- KapeMoto
Where: 2nd floor, same building as Red Ribbon, 10Q, Tropical Hut, Starbucks
What: Japanese food!
Recommendations: Karaage (fried chicken), Gyoza (dumpling), Tamagoyaki (omelet), Hambagu (hamburger).
Comment: It’s one of my favorite places. Their set meals already include miso soup, salad, and RICE (all caps because of the huge serving and yummy).
Price Range: Set meals usually range from 90-100. Sulit sobra!
- Flaming Wings
Where: Same building as Yellow Cab & Figaro. Located at the inner portion of the building.
What: Chicken, Sandwiches, Pasta etc.
Recommendations: Meal 2 (Chicken Tenders). Comes with rice, dip and drinks.
Comment: Usually I get confused whether to eat pasta or chicken, because both are good. The chicken meal usually gets my vote because it comes with drinks for the same price as pasta alone.
Price Range: 110-130 for set meals and pasta.
If you are looking for lutong bahay..
- Ang Balay
Where: Near Providence Dormitory, St. Scholastica. Right after the first crossing if your coming from Tropical Hut/Tapa King. (Right across United Pharmacy)
What: Lutong Bahay! J
Recommendations: Sinigang na Baboy (yum~), Lechong Kawali
Comment: Sometimes they give free Sinigang soup if you ask them :). There’s no harm in asking right? ^_^
Price Range : 80-100
Fine Dining~
- Solomon’s
Where : 1025 C. Ayala St. corner Arellano, Malate Manila
Quite a long walk from DLSU-M. Coming from Estrada (Tropical Hut/Tapa King) you can walk straight until you reach the CSB hotel. Turn right, and you can find it at the first/second right turn at one of the streets there. *points at the complete address above*
What: I believe it changes per term ? But you get expensive looking food for a reasonable price :)
Comment: It is the practicum restaurant of CSB culinary arts and HR.
Operating Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:00AM to 6PM, Saturday: 8:00AM - 2:00PM
Price: 90-150
*Something that came up after I googled Solomon’s CSB: click
So thats it for now. One last thing, this was posted Aug 9, 2008. Those were the prices last time I went there
